Dear Max,

I am writing to inform you that it was agreed at the Wales Green Party Council meeting on Saturday to suspend you from your position as Wales Green Party Member’s Newsletter Editor. This decision was taken in line with procedures laid down in the England and Wales Constitution.

As you were present for most of the discussion regarding this issue, you are well aware of the areas of concern to WGPC members.

In short, the first newsletter included quotes and a link to a non Green Party website which inaccurately reported an internal disciplinary procedure carried out late last year.
The second newsletter contained a link to what you knew to be a false blog making unsubstantiated allegations against one of the candidates currently standing for selection to the Wales Euro Elections list. Consequently, the selection procedure has had to be suspended at great cost and inconvenience to the party.
WGPC also felt that the inclusion of an anonymous letter relating to the same candidate was unfair, particularly at this time.

Members feel that there is the potential for your actions to bring the party into disrepute if, indeed that hasn’t happened already.

The suspension takes immediate effect.

You should now destroy your copy of the membership list and I would like to remind you that, under the Data Protection Act 1998 and Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, continued use of the membership list is a criminal offence.

Yours sincerely,
Ann Were
General Secretary
Wales Green Party
